CRC vs. CGC
CRC (Certified Residential Contractor) covers residential structures up to 3 stories. CGC (Certified General Contractor) covers everything. For a flooring installation, CRC is sufficient. Registered contractors (RRC, RGC) are county-limited; certified contractors work statewide.
Florida also requires the contractor to carry general liability insurance and workers' comp before pulling a permit.
Coastal moisture and hurricane requirements
Flooring installations don't typically trigger hurricane retrofit requirements, but any exterior wall penetration (new vent fan, new window) does. Miami-Dade and Broward have the strictest requirements (High Velocity Hurricane Zone).
